Excitement
I hope I never lose the ability to be excited. Christmas is always a time of great excitement. Seeing people you may not have seen for a while, choosing exactly the right gift for someone, having the holiday of your dreams.
But it doesn't have to be big things that cause excitement. Planning a lovely dinner, having an evening with just my husband, seeing the beautiful parrots that visit my back yard, all these things can create the little bubble of excitement in me.
Visiting my son who live thousands of kilometres away makes me so excited I am almost physically sick by the time I see him. Similarly visits with my brother and sister and their families create great anticipation which becomes excitement as the time draws nearer.
Small things like opening a new book for the first time, buying a long awaited CD or seeing a movie are all things that give me that bubble.
Sometimes when we are grown up we forget how important it is to enjoy the simple things in life and continually look forward to all the great things that still await us. I for one hope my bubble of excitement never bursts.
